'Big Hero 6' sequel talk confirmed? Marvel crossover in the cards with Genesis Rodriguez

By

Big Hero 6 has been the subject of weeks of speculation- whether the film was going to get a sequel (perhaps titled Big Hero 7?), a spin-off or some kind of crossover with the greater live-action Marvel universe. And while we still don't know exactly what's going on with Big Hero 6, we do know one thing: Disney is officially considering another go-round with Hiro, Baymax, and the rest of the film's scrappy college-aged superheroes.

The news comes from actor Genesis Rodriguez, who plays Honey Lemon in the film, and who spoke to Screen Rant (via Cinema Blend) about the possibility of another Big Hero 6 movie. Rodriguez, apparently, is very optimistic about the sequel's chances, saying:

"There's rumblings of something else happening. I mean yesterday I just saw that it's the third most grossing Disney animated feature, so this is huge for them. I doubt that they wouldn't want to do another one. It was a huge success."

Rodriguez makes a very interesting point about how succesful Big Hero 6 was, because another animated Disney film that raked in tons of cash has just gotten itself a sequel. And that sequel's certainly got something to do with money. Thanks to the massive box-office success of Frozen, Frozen 2 has been officially been confirmed by Disney. It seems like the studio's on a sequel roll right now, and that if they're willing to announce the sequel to one Disney flick, they're probably willing to announce the sequel to another in the same time period.

If that's the case, expect a Big Hero 6 (or Big Hero 7?) announcement very soon- perhaps even containing a connection between Big Hero 6 and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, something that's been speculated on in the past weeks. All Disney has to do there is get around the pesky problem of the MCU being live-action, and the Big Hero 6 being animated.
