'Legend of Korra' Spin-off Movie Confirmed by Creators? Official Korrasami Art Provides Clues

By

A Legend of Korra spin-off has been tossed around the rumor mill for months, but it's always been just that- rumors. No actual, official confirmations from people who would actually be in charge of a Legend of Korra spin-off.

Well, that all changes, because Korra fans now have something real to grasp onto- a piece of art from series co-creator Brian Konietzko. In the image, we can see Korra and Asami, the two characters who fell in love at the end of The Legend of Korra, cuddling up and enjoying a little quality time together. According to Konietzko, the title for the artwork is "Turte-Duck Date Night," and was created for an upcoming exhibition of artwork based around Avatar and The Legend of Korra.

But could it be more than just art? In the past, Konietzko and co-creator Michael Dante DiMartino have spoken about wanting to take a break from the Avatar and Korra universe after Korra ended. But if they're starting to get back into the world, it's possible they may continue on from here. More artwork, maybe a comic book- even a television show or movie? It's a stretch, but there have been far greater stretches out there.

This artwork may also indicate what Konietzko and DiMartino are most interested in: continuing the story of Korra and Asami as a couple. In that case, a straight-up continuation of The Legend of Korra may be the best way to proceed- or perhaps a spin-off where the two characters are older, and no longer protagonists but side characters.

The possibilities are endless, and the very thought of Korra's creators getting back into the series is enough to get fans salivating for new adventures from the characters they've grown to love. We'll see if anything comes of this, or if it turns out to be just a piece of artwork.
