Oscar Pistorius might never get out of the spotlight. Being an athlete without real legs catapulted his name to stardom. However, when he killed his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, his name became even more famous. Now that he is in jail, what are the updates about him? Read the rest of the post to find out more.
In the past few weeks, we have shared that Pistorius is enjoying perks which other inmates are deprived of. He can make more phone calls, He can wear some jewelries. He has an additional budget for his snacks or treats. And he can already hug his visitors. For Steenkamp's supporters, this wasn't the best news. After all, someone is in jail to suffer, not to enjoy. However, the prison guards shared that Pistorius is a good example to other inmates. That's one of the reasons why he is given a number of privileges.
Apparently, not everyone was fond of that idea, including other inmates. In one of our reports, it was mentioned that Pistorius is eating tinned foods. This is because he was scared to eat the food served in the cafeteria. The athlete has been receiving threats from unknown persons. He is said to maintain a small number of friends because he is scared to mingle with other prisoners. Speaking of friends, a video showing Pistorius and a big time inmate, Radovan Krejcr, circulated online. Both were seemingly happy playing football inside the prison. You can watch the video from here.
The video sparked different comments. Some say that it's inappropriate while others think that this is part of Pistorius privileges.
Meanwhile, the latest report states that there were some inmates who were assaulted after the release of the video. They said that the prison guards raided the facility to check who's carrying a mobile device. Having one is not common, or even not allowed for inmates. This 'raid' ended up with few prisoners being abused. This has been denied by the authorities.
