The HTC One M9 may not be the groundbreaking smartphones in its category that its predecessors had been, but it comes with improvements that are just as pleasant to make users go for an upgrade. That is, if you're using the One M7.
Initial hands-on reviews mirrored the same response to the familiar One M8 design, with little tweaks like the new two-tone design to differentiate it from last year's model. It comes with a fussier design too, with its gold-silver front body edged with gold finish and a traditional silver finish at the back.
According to Trusted Reviews, the One M9 design is a good-looking one that showcase the same excellent craftsmanship that is seen on the previous HTC flagship phones. But the One M8 looks classier, the same observation other tech reviewers had seen.
If the design doesn't come off as impressive as those of One M8 and M9, HTC manages to earn a good score in the One M9's internal components. Tech reviewers almost echo the same speedy CPU performance, Brilliant and lightweight Sense 7, quick charging, and best speakers that can be found on a smartphone.
HTC has also announced that the One M9 is running "at a much cooler 104 degrees fahrenheit" than the previous reading of a surface temperature of 132 degrees fahrenheit during the first benchmark test.
Overall, the HTC comes with a handsome and top-tier build although some of the aesthetic changes cannot be considered an improvement. It's Snapdragon 810 chipsets make it snappy and powerful, but the 20-MP camera is no match to the UltraPixel shooter that the HTC previously used.
The HTC One M9 is already available in Taiwan at a $698 price for the 32GB model. The 64GB variant is priced at $732. In UK, the device will be available on March 31 but HTC and phone carriers like O2, EE, Vodaphone, and Carphone Warehouse have been accepting pre-orders. The device is priced at £579.99 SIM free at the HTC's website. In the US, it will arrive in April 10.
