System software update 2.50 is coming to the PlayStation 4: What changes are in store?

By

System software update 2.50 is set to be released on March 26 for the PlayStation 4 and it is going to add new features to the console.

One of the most notable additions in the update, dubbed "Yukimura," is the new suspend/resume feature. With it, players can now effectively suspend the progress they have made in any given game, set the PlayStation 4 to rest mode when they leave and just pick up where they left off when they choose to finally resume.

Players can resume their games by simply pressing the PlayStation button on the controller, according to IGN.

All this means less loading times for gamers to deal with.

Another useful feature included in the "Yukimura update is the ability to now back-up the contents of the Playstation 4's hard disc on to an external USB drive. The data stored within the external USB drive can also be placed back on to the Playstation 4 via the update," according to Tech Crunch.

Users can now also find friends on the PlayStation Network by searching through their linked Facebook accounts.

A new "Friends who play this" section will also display the people linked to your PlayStation Network account who are currently biding their time with the same games.

Screenshots will also be taken automatically once a player earns a trophy while linked online.

Several system upgrades have also been added to enable greater accessibility for the PlayStation 4, with support now being offered for games running at 60 fps through remote or share play and software updates now being installed automatically.

Sub-accounts can now be upgraded as well, lifting restrictions imposed on such accounts.

Players can also easily upload gameplay videos to Dailymotion.com with a simple press of the share button on the controller.

Updates are also coming to the PlayStation app and PlayStation Vita prior to "Yukimura" being launched, according to USA Today.
