Zayn Malik has left One Direction. On March 25, Zayn announced his decision to finally quit the boy band, and the singer apologized to their fans for having to do so. Despite citing very personal reasons, many are speculating that the main reason why Zayn left One Direction was because of fiancé, Perrie Edwards.
Zayn Malik, 22, has quit One Direction after five years of being in the world-famous boy band. In an attempt to communicate and apologize to their fans, Malik posted on One Direction's Facebook page: "My life with One Direction has been more than I could ever have imagined. But, after five years, I feel like it is now the right time for me to leave the band. I'd like to apologise to the fans if I've let anyone down, but I have to do what feels right in my heart. I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight. I know I have four friends for life in Louis, Liam, Harry and Niall. I know they will continue to be the best band in the world."
It was reportedly the stress of the life on the fast lane that promted Zayn to quit his band. Malik recently wrote, "The reason I don't tweet as much as I use to is because I'm sick of all the useless opinions and hate I get daily goodbte twitter."
Despite Malik's explanation, there were still speculations that the real reason why he decided to leave One Direction, was his fiancé, Little Mix singer, 21 year-old Perrie Edwards. It can be remembered that Zayn was caught up in trouble recently, after he allegedly cheated on Edwards with a woman in Thailand.
An insider revealed: "Zayn leaving the 1D tour for stress reasons also has a lot to do with Perrie telling him to come home." Another insider spilled that Perrie gave Malik an ultimatum after the cheating scandal: "Get home if you want to sort this mess out, or we're done."
As for the remaining boys of One Direction, a source shared, "It's up to them now to carry the torch while Zayn does what he needs to do, and they're up for the challenge of becoming a four-piece, instead of 5. Harry, Liam, Niall and Louis are very supportive of Zayn's need to recuperate and get his life back on track. They're like brothers, and will do anything they can to help."
Zayn Malik had been a part of One Direction, one of the most famous bands to ever go down in musical history, for five years.
