Zayn Malik shocked One Direction fandom not once, but twice when he went back to UK in the midst of their 'On the Road Again' concert tour in Asia and then quit altogether afterwards. In relation to this, Harry Styles reportedly cried on stage while performing in Jakarta, but in other reports he's unfazed with his band mate's departure. Confusing?
March 25 would be another remarkable date for 1D's history as Zayn announced he's resignation. Apparently it's due to criticism he received after his photos with a fan named Lauren Richardson went viral. The 22-year-old lad immediately explained his side on Twitter and mentioned that he loves his fiancée Perrie Edwards, who's according to Hollywood Life 's insider gave 'ultimatum' to go back in UK or their engagement is off.
"My life with One Direction has been more than I could ever have imagined. But, after five years, I feel like it is now the right time for me to leave the band. I'd like to apologise to the fans if I've let anyone down, but I have to do what feels right in my heart. I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight. I know I have four friends for life in Louis, Liam, Harry and Niall. I know they will continue to be the best band in the world," Zayn's official statement.
According to Cosmopolitan, Styles was seen crying on stage during their On the Road Again concert , 1D's show after Malik quitted, in Jakarta. However, there are reports that's Malik wasn't the reason Taylor Swift's rumored ex BF rubbed his eye, but because of a lighstick.
"Can I just clarify that Harry wasn't crying at the last concert. He got hit by a lightstick and was rubbing his eye," a tweet from 99% 1D Updates.
Though those tears might be not for 1D's former member, Hollywood Life reported that he did try together with Niall Horan, Liam Payne, and Louis Tomlinson to beg Zayn to stay.
"We're really sad to see Zayn go, but we totally respect his decision and send him all our love for the future. The past five years have been beyond amazing, we've gone through so much together, so we will always be friends. The four of us will now continue. We're looking forward to recording the new album and seeing all the fans on the next stage of the world tour," One Direction said in a statement.
