Android 5.0 Lollipop Battery Bugs and Fixes on HTC One M8

By

Looks like the supposedly fixed Android 5.0 Lollipop bugs, especially that regarding battery life, continue to be an issue every time it will be rolled out for new devices. There is, for instance, the most recent battery drain issue, along with app freezes and forced reboots that HTC One M8 owners in the US are currently dealing with.

Owners of the same devices outside the US also experienced Android 5.0 Lollipop problems like missing features. This and more issues that continue to plague the Android 5.0 Lollipop updated device make owners frustrated.

It's not even assuring to hear remarks like "Thankfully, Google is already rolling out the next Android update that can solve this issue. Why would it be when Google rolls out its Android update in a phased manner, and who knows when the HTC One M8 would get the Android 5.1 Lollipop update?

So instead of holding on to that promise, why not use existing and handy fixes instead? Here are quick and simple measures that Android phone owners will want to do to ensure proper functioning of the device after doing such a major update.

One is to turn off the device after installing the Android 5.0 Lollipop update on the phone. It's one simple measure that many have to do but tend to forget unless they are forced to do so upon discovering glitches in the phone's performance. Note that a general reboot is different from actually turning off your device and turning it back on.

Doing this will likely resolve most issues as it allows the updated processor "to optimize all apps, and start fresh, likely clearing any old files leftover from the update."

Clearing the cache will also remove apps and files that are no longer needed but are not deleted yet, as well or those that become unresponsive to the new update and you don't mind removing them completely. Note that to wipe the cache out is different from wiping the date. The first is meant to remove old and unwanted files "as well as leftovers from the update", while the second will erase all the files in the smartphone.

Advance phone users do this by powering off the device and turning it back on while pressing power button and volume down at the same time, and clearing the cache. Downloading and installing apps like Clean Master can also do the job without running the risk of removing all your files.

For extreme but generally useful measure, doing a factory reset is the way to go. Resetting the device back to its default settings makes the device function on a clean slate, a condition that any major software update requires for a smooth transition and prevent any Android 5.0 bugs like battery life issues from recurring.
