A reboot of the action-filled movie "Tomb Raider" has already been under works since 2013 and yet no official announcement on the production schedule, plot and cast of the upcoming movie has been released. GK Films announced in 2013 that the filming of the reboot would begin immediately, after the success of the release of the game "Tomb Raider" with a younger Lara Croft as lead. The movie reboot did not progressed since then, not until now that GK Films, MGM and Warner Brothers decided to collaborate for the project.
According to Deadline via Yahoo News Evan Daugherty will write the script for the upcoming movie reboot. Daugherty is known for his works in the latest movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Divergent. "It is really the story before she became Lara Croft, so it is a character piece," Graham King announced. "It does have a lot of really great characters, but it's a lot of action and a lot of fun and for me, it's something very different."
"I've not really done a movie like this before, but I really gravitated to rebooting this franchise and we're going to give it a shot," Daugherty shared.
The earlier franchise of the movie had Angelina Jolie as the lead star. This movie can also be considered as one of the earliest movies that launched Jolie into the action themed films. A younger version of the lead role is what the movie requires for the upcoming reboot, but a cameo from the "original Lara Croft" would definitely excite the fans.
Unfortunately, Jolie seems to be undergoing a lot of medical problems at present. She recently revealed that she just had her fallopian tubes and ovaries removed as an early prevention for ovarian cancer. Angelina Jolie carries the BRCA1 gene mutation that increases the risk of acquiring cancer. She has already undergone double mastectomy in 2013. At the same year, she lost her maternal grandmother and aunt to cancer.
Hopefully, without a premiere release being announced, Jolie would be well enough to play a role in the upcoming movie reboot.
