The Mortal Kombat developer, netherRealm Studios have released the new Erron Black trailer that will add a new, gun-slinging desperado to MK's roster of martial killers. However, the creative team also released a rather interesting and somewhat revealing under-the-hood insight to where those 'gooey' fatality sounds come from.
As seen on the video they've released on their Twitch channel, Kombat Kast courtesy of Gamespot. They showed that the nostalgic 'squishy' sound that gamers hear when characters are dismembered during fatalities and brutalities comes from the combination of toilet plungers and copious amounts of green slime.
This revealing video gives an insight on how developers would go to great lengths just to get that 'perfect' sound right. Though the video is an eye-opener to gamers, people may continually recall the green slime escapade whenever fatalities are heard, effectively dulling the gory, gratifying feeling of seeing MK characters viciously shred to pieces.
The series had always stirred up controversy ever since its first release in 1992. It graphically showed mutilations, dismemberments and huge amount of blood spilling out of severed heads or through massive injuries caused by outlandish and sometimes hilarious killing methods. Today, the trademark sounds of 'fight' and 'fatality' is now subconsciously linked to the Mortal Kombat franchise.
Mortal Kombat X continues to excite fans with constant updates and sneak peeks, especially as the new instalment promises gamers the chance to play interesting non-MK characters like Jason, the Predator and Erron Black.
Mortal Kombat X continues its barrage of teasers and advertisements culminating in an official TV spot commercial. The advertisement showed a huge number of people running furiously to watch a MK style street fight in the blissful tune of System of a down's Chop Suey. The game is set for release this April and fans will once again have the chance to brutalize another person without fear of serving jail time in the aftermath.
