By far, the biggest piece of news to hit the Internet today is the casting of Trevor Noah as the new host of The Daily Show. It's kind of a big deal- Jon Stewart's retirement shocked the world last month, and since then nearly everyone with a functioning brain and access to a working keyboard has been posting their thoughts on who should take over for one of TV's most esteemed late-night gigs.
And now we know: it'll be South African stand-up comedian Trevor Noah. Noah is no stranger to The Daily Show, having appeared a handful of times in recent months for news segments with Jon Stewart- but his casting still comes as a massive surprise. Most people were expecting a well-established name to take over the landmark Comedy Central series; someone like Amy Poehler, Louis CK, Chris Rock or John Oliver.
However, most of the response to Noah has been extremely positive, noting that his handful of Daily Show appearances were actually quite funny. However, there's one response to his casting that's been a little bit... outside the norm. Namely, that Noah's casting is terrific- not because of his political or comedy chops, but because he's a good-looking guy. E! News first reported this slightly bizarre phenomenon, noting that, in regards to his physical appearance, they'd want to "spread him on a cracker." Weird.
E! also noted a number of Tweeters who felt the very same way. A few examples:

Could this lead to a new influx of Daily Show viewers? Could this just be the workings of a few nuts on Twitter? Who knows! Either way, it looks like the public's going to accept "The Daily Show with Trevor Noah" with open arms.
