'Suicide Squad' adds King Shark, Green Arrow? Scott Eastwood and 'Resident Evil' star rumored for new roles

By

Just when you think Suicide Squad couldn't get any crazier (remember that rumor where Harley Quinn would have her pet hyenas in the movie?), some rumor comes along to give Suicide Squad an extra helping of insanity.

And the latest rumor is just that. According to Cinema Blend, two new actors have just joined the film- Scott Eastwood, son of legendary actor/director Clint Eastwood, and Raymond Olubowale from the Resident Evil series. We don't yet know who Eastwood will be playing, but there's a pretty big hint at Olubowale's role from the Cinema Blend piece: King Shark.

King Shark, if you didn't know, is a DC Comics villain who's basically a giant, walking shark-man (initially, it was never explained just how or why he came to be, but eventually he was given backstory as the son of a shark god). It's a role that would make sense for Olubowale, given that he played similar hulking monsters in the Resident Evil films. As well, it'd be a huge departure from the other films in the DC live-action universe, considering how grounded and gritty Man of Steel was (and how the same seems to apply for Batman vs Superman). Having a giant man-eating shark-man kind of negates the whole "grounded" thing just a little bit.

But just who could Scott Eastwood play? Suicide Squad's already dripping with villains, so it might be possible that Eastwood's role is just a little more heroic. It's possible he could be taking up the role of DC heroes like Green Arrow or Green Lantern- especially considering that an early Green Arrow movie also took place largely in a prison, much like Suicide Squad will (we know that's where Jared Leto's character will be). And he'd definitely be a good contrast for King Shark.

Suicide Squad will premiere in theaters on August 5, 2016.
