Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is going to be a huge deal when the film's first trailer finally premieres- but as of now, there's no trailer. Not even a hint of a trailer, really. DC Comics fans, and comic book movie fans looking for a solid alternative to the Marvel Cinematic Universe are sitting around waiting for Warner Bros to give up some real footage.
But that first footage could already contain some major spoilers. It's been rumored from the very start of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice that the film may feature the deaths of major Batman characters as part of its world-building. Characters like Jim Gordon and Robin are two very likely on the chopping block. Especially considering that it's been reported that Jared Leto's Joker in Suicide Squad has a history with Batman, and may have killed someone close to him- Gordon or a Robin would be the likeliest candidate.
We may even see such a death in the film's first trailer (or at least a glimpse of it), as it's important that Warner Bros establish what kind of universe this is and that it's a very different one from the Batman audiences are used to with Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy.
As well, it's being rumored that the first trailer for Batman v Superman may premiere at this year's San Diego Comic-Con. Before, it was speculated that the first Batman v Superman trailer might hit during Mad Max: Fury Road (as both are Warner Bros films), but Comic-Con might make more sense. Marvel's already dropped out of Comic-Con, so it's important that DC has a bigger presence than ever to shore up their spot as the biggest comic book franchise of the con. As well, they'd have more exposure at Comic-Con than at Mad Max, most likely.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will premiere on March 25, 2016.
