There is a lot of hype over the Witcher 3 release date and how CD project Red continually replied to DX12 support queries that they will release the game as it is so that more fans can play. However, the team affirms that post launch, they will indeed find ways to improve the game and may eventually add DX12 support.
The Witcher 3 wild hunt will again spark another console war as to which has the better version. However right off the bat, PS4 takes the lead as Xbox One has a 900p limit on its resolution. CD projekt Red Senior game designer Damien Monnier said in response to a Twitter question about Xbox One's inferiority over other platforms, that 'its fine - it's just the resolution really 900 vs 1080p for PS4. The game is the same.'
Not counting gameplay similarities and story plots, Xbox's 900p cap to PS4's 1080p resolution pretty much tells everything. The PS4 version would be better looking, technically, compared to Xbox one. This makes PS4 and the PC in some extent, the platform winners on that eventful 'the Witcher 3' release date on May 19.
Monnier also commented that the Xbox one's resolution limit will need much bigger changes than just a simple DX12 patch. The senior designer said that for the Xbox One, '...any resolution changes requires a much bigger change from Microsoft...'
IGN also agrees to Monnier that a simple DX12 patch will not resolve the Witcher 3's resolution issue on Xbox one. For the PS4 and PC the full 1080p will be achieved making it a resolution beast. IGN also confirms that all three platforms will have the 'real time beard growth,' which interests many fans.
Though for some, resolution is an issue, most gamers are content to really play the game as it is and how it looks on their machine. The Witcher franchise have been among the best open world RPG games in the last decade and developers hope to once again wow their fans with another Witcher instalment this year. If all goes well, PS4, PC and Xbox one users will have the chance to play the third instalment of this immersive game, which is The Witcher 3 wild hunt.
