The Windows 10 is confirmed to be rolled out directly for Microsoft's latest Windows versions, the Windows 7 and Windows 8.1, when it arrives in June 2015. This is according to sources cited by Neowin claiming that Windows 10 will be available commercially by June.
On March 18, Microsoft released the preview Build 10041 as the most latest update on Windows 10 Technical Preview. The latest build focus on visuals and "under-the-hood experience", including transparency in the Start menu, the All Aps-list which is now easier to use for tablet owners as it comes with a larger button.
For virtual desktops users, more features are also made available to simplify their workflow. There is the feature that allows a window to be dragged to a Virtual Desktop as well as "drag a window to the "+" icon to both create a Virtual Desktop and move the window to it in single step".
The new fly-out in the taskbar also makes it easier to join and switch networks. Cortana will also be supporting more languages other than English, such as Spain, China, Germany, Italy, France, and UK. Improved Photo apps and handwriting recognition are also expected to arrive in the Windows 10.
A few issues are also experienced which is understandable given the Windows 10 technical preview status. These issues include not having the username and password boxes display on log-in page, incomplete installation of some apps due licensing issue with the Store Beta, as well as broken apps like the Calendar, People, and Mail.
The Windows 10 Build 10041 release is available at Windows Insider for PC users that are signed up for the Fast Ring. Slow Ring is also available for less advanced beta testing tasks. A new build of Windows 10 for phone is set to follow but it may take time according to Microsoft.
The cost of Windows 10 is yet to be announced. What's certain is, it will be free for one year for Windows 8.1 users. Microsoft has also trademarked the term "Microsoft 365" for a subscription-based Windows?
