Barely a week after leaving One Direction, Zayn Malik was caught in the middle of heated Twitter fight between his former bandmate Louis Tomlinson and friend collaborator Naughty Boy. Louis called Naughty Boy "inconsiderate" for retweeting a Zayn-related video, and the British producer responded by posting a recording of what many believed to be Zayn's first solo single post 1D.
Naughty Boy on Tuesday shared on SoundCloud Zayn's demo track entitled "I Won't Mind," apparently as his final jab at Louis who got infuriated earlier when he posted a link to a video with a caption, "Naughty Boy saved my life...Zaughty will rise." The One Direction star hit back and wrote, "Wow @NaughtyBoyMusic you're so inconsiderate pal, seriously how f****** old are you ? Grow up! #masterofallwisdom."
Louis also accused the hit record producer for "trying to wind the fans up" through the video. Naughty Boy tweeted hours later a link to Zayn's demo track, with the words "Let the music do the talking guys."
"I Won't Mind," which many One Direction fans mistakenly believed to be Zayn's first solo song after quitting the group last week, was able to clock up over a million hits before being removed from the music sharing site, said Daily Mirror. The producer deleted the demo several hours after sharing it, following a huge backlash from One Direction fans.
Yet in another update, Zayn's controversial song turned out to be an old song that was in fact recorded for One Direction album FOUR. A source close to Zayn told Mail Online that the track "isn't a solo Zayn song or even representative of material he might record in the future." The insider said "it is clearly a song written with One Direction in mind for their last album" and that "it's not new, nor is it a Zayn Malik solo track."
A representative for Naughty Boy, whose real name is Shahid Khan, confirmed the info, stating Zayn wrote and demoed the song with the sought-after producer as "a contender for 1D's album last year."
It will be recalled that Zayn Malik shocked millions of One Direction fans worldwide when he announced on March 25 he would be leaving the chart-topping boy band after five incredible years. He admitted he felt upset for having let his fans down but that he "just can't do this anymore because it's not real to me." He also seemed confident and happy with his decision, saying he had "never felt more in control in my life."
The former One Direction star is reportedly embarking on a solo career, though he has yet to announce his actual plans post 1D split.
