Syrian Electronic Army (SEA) Hacks 5 Web-Hosting Services of Endurance Group with Alleged Links to Terrorist Websites

Another hacktivist group, the Syrian Electronic Army (SEA), having been linked to the Syrian President Bashar Al Assad's regime, once again made it to the headlines as the group hacked down the control systems of 5 Endurance International Group's web-hosting services, Sunday night reports said.

SEA took over the systems of BlueHost, JustHost, Hostgator, Fastdomain, and Hostmonster and was also responsible for hacking BlueHost's Official Twitter account. The hacker group was able to gain access to these companies' internal servers and gave them a leeway to wreak havoc to their control systems.

According to the SEA, Endurance Group's BlueHost, JustHost, Hostgator, and HostMonster were providing web hosting services to terrorists' websites. The group even posted some screenshots of the hacked web-hosting companies' panels via their Twitter account.

Following this, the Endurance Group of companies issued a statement saying that, "On Sunday evening, BlueHost's Twitter account was compromised for a short period of time. We were able to regain control of the Twitter account within a few hours. We are continuing to investigate this matter, but are viewing this as an unfortunate case of cyber vandalism. We have taken all appropriate measures to ensure that our platform is secure and will continue to conduct a thorough review of this incident."

Endurance International Group, INC is considered as one of the largest web-hosting companies in the world.

In a related news, the SEA just recently launched a new website but denied that it has no financial links with the regime of Bashar Al-Assad contrary to some reports written before.

The Syrian Electronic Army (SEA) is a group of computer hackers which made its presence online in 2011 to support the government of Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad. The hacker group is the same group behind the hacking of the Official Twitter Account of Xbox Support, Microsoft News, Skype, and also defaced the Skype and Microsoft Official Blog pages in the past, using their advanced phishing skills.
