CL of 2NE1's charms is seem already stirring people's curiosity though her upcoming US solo album is still unreleased. To attest her growing popularity, Time Magazine shared that Lee Chae-rin is leading their 100 Readers' Poll and even goes ahead of renowned celebrities such as Beyonce, Emma Watson and Lady Gaga. Is it time for CL to concentrate on her solo career and leaves 2NE1?
Not an ordinary survey to check celebrities' popularity, Time's poll also cites most influential individuals around the globe. Their poll will close on April 10, but currently CL is leading it and even beating big names like US President Barack Obama and Pope Francis.
According to magazine's analysis CL's fame is also a fruit of 2NE1's international success like their show that became part of New York Time's Best concert list in 2012. Time also cited 2NE1's prowess to break Billboard records including their recognition- 'the highest-charting K-Pop album on the Billboard 200.'
Meantime, Korean girl band's fans shouldn't fret with CL's solo career. According to YG's Entertainment's official blog CL will join Dara, Minzy, and Park Bom again after her activities in the US. In fact, the 24-year-old singer-rapper re-signs with YG Entertainment too before her group mates and contract expiration.
"CL, a member of YG's girl group 2NE1, is going to release an album in the U.S. in the first half of this year, and 2NE1 will make a comeback in the second half. There is also a possibility that YG's new girl group might emerge late this year, after their debut has been delayed for a while," Mr. Yang Hyun Suk, prime producer of YG ENTERTAINMENT, shared.
In an interview with Complex Magazine, CL clarified the 2NE1 disbandment issue along her dream to conquer US market. "That's not true! We just finished our tour and everybody gets to take a break now. It's just I don't get a break," CL said about 2NE1.
The singer's US album involves music heavyweights such as Scooter Braun, songwriter Brackin, and Grammy winner band Florence + the Machine. Apart from simply releasing an album, CL also confessed in her Complex's interview her big dream to represent Koreans in the US.
"There are so many Korean people here-and Chinese and Japanese-but they don't have one pop artist that they can look up to. That's kind of sad. I wish I could be that person for them to be proud of," CL shared.
"I'm going to try my best to represent Korea in the best way. In a cool way. I feel like sometimes we have the wrong image, and I want to fix it a little bit. I'll try my best."
