Clark Beckham continues to wow the judges and avid viewers with his crooning voice and good looks to match with. Some fans are already predicting that the 22-year-old contestant from Tennessee will be the next "American Idol."
"I know this is where I belong," said Clark Beckham during the announcement of the show's top 24. Since then, Beckham has continued to grow and impress the judges with his weekly improvements in every performance, making fans think that Beckham might be this season's American Idol.
In last week's episode of "American Idol," the top eight contestants performed Kelly Clarkson's hit singles. Beckham showed the judges and the audience his take on Clarkson's "The Trouble With Love Is," which garnered praises from the judges.
Even Kelly Clarkson couldn't hide her admiration over Beckham's rendition of her song.
"I think I'm pregnant," said Clarkson during Beckham's rehearsal.
"American Idol" judge Jennifer Lopez even got out of her seat while applauding his performance. She told Beckham that he was able to get her "goosies" out once again, after his performance of "Every Breath You Take" from the previous week.
Keith Urban raises his hand over his head and said, "Your bar is way up here."
Kate O'Hare from Patheos said that Beckham is "head and shoulders above the rest." O'Hare went on and said that while viewers and critics can only predict who will be the next "American Idol" winner, she will be surprised if Beckham would not have a great career ahead of him after his soulful performances on the show.
According to Gold Derby, Clark Beckham performed his audition piece, "It's A Man's, Man's, Man's World" for the show's first week and "Takin' It To The Streets" for the Party Songs week. Beckham sang "Sunday Morning" for Movie Songs week and "Every Breath You Take" for the 80s week. The remaining top eight contestants will be performing the "Billboard Hot 100" songs in this week's episode of "American Idol."
