'Mass Effect 4' Update: Could a transgender protagonist be coming to the game?; BioWare teases prelimenary plans

By

A transgender protagonist should be one of the considered character choices for BioWare, as the game's developers continue plotting out and creating the latest addition to the franchise.

The suggestion, made by Gamemoir, is hardly an outlandish thought given the track record of BioWare.

The Canadian game developer is famous for populating their franchise's universe with highly complex characters and the suggestion of a transgender protagonist would simply be the latest progressive step they could make in terms of nuanced story elements.

BioWare has also been lauded for their ability to tackle sensitive sexual identity issues within their games, leading legitimate credibility to the idea that they could pursue the development of a transgender protagonist for their latest game.

Whether or not BioWare will choose to go in what could be perceived as a radical new direction for their choice of protagonist, what is certain is that there will be a new character at the helm of the franchise.

Commander Shepard is confirmed to be out of the franchise's fourth installment, so fans will have to get used to a new character starring for their beloved franchise.

A new protagonist is not the only expected change coming to the fourth installment of "Mass Effect."

As of now, BioWare is taking suggestions for potential system and gameplay changes they may implement into the new installment, according to the International Business Times.

Multiplayer mode could also be part of the new game, according to BioWare's Senior Development Director, Chris Wynn.

BioWare staffer Jos Hendriks also commented on how the new generation consoles are affecting the development process.

"It changes the bottleneck of how much power we have to work with. But in my day-to-day, it doesn't change, really," said Hendriks."

The game is also not set to come out on last generation consoles.

The fourth installment of "Mass Effect" is expected to come out next year, according to Gaming Bolt.

Both EA and BioWare have yet to announce any official release date for the game.
