Android Lollipop updates are now available for LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition, and LG G3 owners. The Lollipop update for LG G3 will include VoLTE, and Wi-Fi Calling 2.0. Latest Google Play Services update is also available for all Android smartphones. It will come out as Google Play Services 7.0.

An Android 5.1 OTA update for the LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition (also called as LGGP83GPE) has been received recently by some owners of the device. This was attested by a post in Twitter, and in Android Police.

As of this moment, there is still no certainty if the update is available for all LGGP83GPE owners. There is reportedly a possibility that only few users have been getting the update at once.

To check for the update, owners are advised to go to Settings>About tablet>System updates.

Further, it was noted that any changes of the system software could cause over-the-air updates to fail, including a simple root with the stock recovery. If ever there were medications, the report in Android Police noted that "you'll need to wait until we find a factory image to flash, which might be a while."

A link was provided for the update file.

Meanwhile, T-Mobile has just begun releasing Android 5.0 updates for LG G3 owners.

T-Mobile announced the update in their support page that said, "Beginning April 7, the LG G3 will receive a notification to update to Android 5.0 / Software D85120b, available via OTA and manual pull down over Wi-Fi only."

Besides bringing the Android 5.0 Lollipop, the update will have new features that "turns on VoLTE", and "Wi-Fi Calling 2.0."

LG G3 owners are advised to follow these steps:

  • From the home screen, tap Apps.
  • Tap Settings.
  • Tap the "GENERAL' tab.
  • Scroll down to 'SYSTEM,' then tap About phone.
  • Tap Software information.

After tapping the software information, the software version of the phone will then have to be checked.

Recently, a new version of Google Play Services is said to be downloadable for Android 5.0 Lollipop.

The latest Google Play Services 7.0 is reportedly a stable application. It will also come with new features, improvements, and fixes to issues encountered in the previous version.
