Sony has started rolling out today the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for Xperia Z2 and Z2 tablet, following it's confirmation of the upcoming update on Tuesday trough a tweet. Sony also promised of the update release for Xperia Z3 Dual, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1 Compact and Xperia Z Ultra, as well as the rumored upcoming Xperia Z4.
The Android 5.0 Lollipop features that will be seen on the Z2 and Z2 tablet include the Material Design interface, guest mode features and multi-user profiles. Improvements in storage control and customization options are also promised for easier transferring of apps from internal memory to SD card.
The release of the Android update for these devices will also be in phases, so users of these devices must expect to receive the update depending on the region where they live. That's the reason Sony's PR team noted that it is important to check for the update at local retailers and watch for notifications as well.
The Android 5.0 Lollipop update can be installed via OTA, and device users on regions where it is already rolled out should receive a notification. Xperia Z2 and Z2 tablet users can check for the update manually by going to Settings > About > Software Update on the two Xperia devices.
Another thing to note is that Sony did not release yet the changelog for the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the Z2 devices. The changelog for the Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z4 Compact arrived at the time Sony had announced the Android update rollout for the Z3 devices. Those changes should also be similar for other Sony devices expected to receive the update.
In the midst of these announcements and confirmations for Android update rollout for Sony devices, leak images of the upcoming Z4 has surfaced and now taking the scene. GSMArena has just published an hour ago about the leaked case of the Xperia Z4, which suggests controls placement. Photos allegedly taken using the Z4 with model number 'E6553′ have also circulated online yesterday via Xperia blog.
Aside from Xperia Z2 and Z2 tablet, and Z3 and Z3 compact, Sony also assured the Android 5.0 Lollipop release for T2 Ultra and Z3 as well as for its Z series. Since the update will be rolled out to almost all its devices, it can also be expected for Sony to bring the Android update to the rumored Xperia Z4 with 5.75 x 2.87 dimensions.
