Sherlock Season 4 Latest Update: EP Steven Moffat reveals explosive details on what fans can expect from new series next year

BBC's popular hit series, Sherlock, is gearing up for all-new season 4 set to premiere early next year but for certain, dedicated fans will find that when it does air, the long wait will be worth it.

In the latest update, one of the show's writers teased fans with what they should expect in the fourth season, promising a new level of intensity not yet felt in the last three seasons following renowned detective Sherlock Holmes and his loyal friend John Watson.

Sherlock season 4 has been keeping fans itching for the new season even after more than a year since the last episode of the third season aired. Although Sherlock season 4 will be returning to the small screens some time in 2016, a Christmas Special is premiering this holiday which will prepare fans for what writer Steven Moffat promises to be a very intense season.

The writer also said that while the fourth season will see some fun, enjoyable scenes, there will be times that things will take a dark, terrifying turn, ruining what little delightful moments Sherlock, John, and Mary will have at the beginning.

Moffat also revealed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that in Sherlock season 4, there will be answers to questions that viewers did not know about and it will take an unexpected turn. The writer added that viewers sometimes look into the directions that would tell them what is about to happen, getting distracted by something else.

Sherlock has been known to take a multitude of directions that fans were always surprised with and after years of trying to deduce what is going to happen, the writers manage to take a turn that fans did not expect.

Moffat also teased that the end of season four will make fans "desperate" for the season 5 and predicted an "emotional upheaval". Fans might have to wait another year and a half for the fifth one so they might want to sit the finale out or prepare boxes upon boxes of tissues.
