Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2's Francis Lawrence calls the film "The most violent of the four." There is a tale that the first teaser preview of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 will release in front of the showings of The Divergent Series: Insurgent. On March 18, 2015, the teaser trailer and poster were released two days before Insurgent came out.
While shooting in Atlanta, Georgia, it was exposed that both parts will be shot back-to-back. Amazingly, on February 6, 2015, Lionsgate confirmed that the film will be released in IMAX 3D and 2D.
In case you missed it, Lionsgate announced that The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 will be having an exhibition which will open on July 1st at Discovery Times Square in New York City.
During an earnings call, Lionsgate was asked numerous times by investors what the studio's plans are for franchises now that The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 is ending the story created by Suzanne Collins this November. While the studio execs initially said they had a strong slate ahead and following "Mockingay - Part 2," CEO Jon Feltheimer finally did mention that they are "actively looking at some development and thinking about prequel and sequel possibilities" for the Hunger Games franchise.
Considering that the series has earned $2.2 billion worldwide, it's no surprise that Lionsgate is eager to keep the world of Panem alive. After all, this is currently the age of interconnected big-screen universes, from which an infinite amount of films can be developed.
We've previously heard rumours that the Twilight and Harry Potter series could also continue in some form, despite the lack of substantial narrative source material; the latter, of course, proved true, as spinoff Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them is now on course to arrive in Fall 2016. Hunger Games might be doing the same depending on the success of the last installment, Mockingjay Part 2 release late this year.
