Vodafone Australia Sony Xperia Z-series owners are going to receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update next week. The update will be released first in Australia, then globally. Meanwhile, the Android 5.0/5.0.1 Lollipop update for AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S5 is currently going on. So far, the update is "solid."
When asking for the status of the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for Sony Xperia Z-series, Vodafone Australia has reportedly said it is ready for release next week. The company has been running a soak test, and is expecting to have it released the following week. After the company releases the update, reports said that it would come to Z3, Z3 Compact, and Z2 devices simultaneously.
Vodafone also said that the update would be released worldwide, but will start with Australia. After it is released in the continent, Sony will then roll it out on other regions. The report said that Xperia Z3, Z3 Compact, and Z2 owners could expect to receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update very soon. The update process is expected to complete before April ends.
Meanwhile, a recent report said that AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4 owners had started receiving Android 5.0 Lollipop updates. The update is said to be close to 1 GB in size, which also meant that AT&T subscribers need to download it by Wi-Fi connection, and an hour for it to complete. The update for the Galaxy S4 Ma Bell version will give device owners various significant changes, such as Material Design, battery saving features, and the removal of Code Scanner, Browser Bar, and Softcard applications.
In relation to the reported Android 5.0 Lollipop problems, Gotta Be Mobile advised to "seek out feedback before installing the software on your phone, especially if your Galaxy S4 is holding up nicely on Android 4.4 KitKat." Besides Galaxy S4 devices, AT&T Samsung Galaxy S5 owners have also begun receiving Android 5.0.1 Lollipop updates.
Android Origin said that they saw multiple users who made reports about the update, and they mentioned that the update "seems to be solid so far." It was also noted that Samsung's update throughout the world was like a "hit or miss," i.e., some having battery life problems or critical bugs that reportedly caused few countries to pause the update. However, as of this moment, it doesn't seem happening at AT&T, nevertheless; the update is still under observation.
