'The Face of an Angel' Latest Updates: Amanda Knox-inspired Film Set Even after Acquittal; Cara Delevinge’s Acting Sizzles

By

What better justice! "The Face of an Angel", the Amanda Knox-based psychological thriller by Michael Winterbottom was released in the UK on March 27, same day the 27-year-old American was acquitted by the Italian Supreme Court. However, of all things that were expected to catch everybody's attention in the murder thriller, it's controversial British supermodel Cara Delevinge's acting that shone above everything - eclipsing the movie itself.

Thwarted perhaps by all the negative press that have swirled around the British Meredith Kercher murder and to what many pundits point out as a lackluster movie, "The Face of an Angel" gets its day in the cinemas but fail to solicit raging box-office sales.

From Real Life to Reel Life

As reported on The Guardian, "The Face of an Angel", a title more likely than not a direct reference to the beautiful angelic face of Amanda Knox, got released on March 27 - albeit lacking fanfare - same day the young American got acquitted.

Well, the idea is a joyride of sorts: certainly, Amanda Knox and the murder of her board mate Meredith Kercher that got the world's attention being equated to the controversy of the highest form, inspires a book "Angel Face" drawn from the detailed crime coverage by Newsweek/Daily Beast writer Barbie Latzau Nadeau.

But it did not end there. Inspired by the book's narrative, Paul Viraugh wrote a movie storyline that becomes the psychological thriller that is "The Face of an Angel" directed by Michael Winterbottom, featuring Cara Delevingne, Kate Beckinsale and Daniel Brühl.

Cara Delevinge Catches Raging Reviews

Featuring the controversy-hounded Cara Delevingne who in her modeling career has displayed wild antics and tallied a slew of eye-popping relationships, may have been a wise casting decision.

Certainly, the five-foot-eight supermodel, is more than just a pretty face - attracting media attention on her own and winning the "Model of the Year" British awards in 2014. This time around even more potentially so as it is her big break in films - the first time the (in)famous British lass would play a lead role in a film.

However, for the movie and its originators, things turn out differently than expected. Unlike the real life media circus that attracted the world's attention placing everyone on their toes, it's Cara Delevingne's star that shines most and not the movie based on Amanda Knox's murder trials.
