Android 5.0.1 Lollipop updates for International Galaxy Note 4 devices have just been released in the UK, Germany, Portugal, and Sweden. Galaxy Note 4 owners in the U.S. will also have the update in the coming weeks. Some notable changes that the Android 5.0.1 brought include the mute mode, a fix for force close error, and many more. Users can take note that the update bears the the build number LRX22C.N910FXXU1BOC3.
The mute mode can be accessed within the Quick Settings menu by tapping the "Sound" button. This shuts all sounds as well as the vibrate function so that calls, emails, messages, and other notifications won't disturb the user late at night.
Another notable change that the update brought was a fix for the force close error. It could be recalled that the error affected the Contacts app in Samsung's previous Lollipop update, which was reportedly a "big one."
SamMobile, which was said to be the first to spot the release of the update, noted additional features such as Side View Panel, which brings the two capacitive buttons (Back and Recent Apps) together with the Home button to the screen. The improvement will make the device easier to hold with one hand. Further, the update also brought a change of the notification selection mode from All/Priority Only/No notifications to a new Do Not Disturb mode.
The update is for Samsung Galaxy Note 4 model number SM-N910F, and it has a build number LRX22C.N910FXXU1BOC3. To check the update, it is recommended that the device's battery is charged enough, before going to Settings>About device>System updates>Check for updates. It is also advised to check the update from time to time.
Android Geeks noted that if an owner uses a stock device, they could expect the latest update arriving "any moment now." The update is being released in phases, but it is expected that it will continue until "the last Note 4 users" complete the installation process.
Currently, the update is released in the UK, Germany, Portugal, and Sweden. It is also expected to hit in the U.S., and in other regions in the coming weeks. A guide for manual installation of the update was released. The guide will also work for those who have installed custom ROMs; however, they will have to make a "factory reset" to get it to work.
