“Wolverine 3” Cast, Movie Updates: Vigo Mortensen hailed as the latest Wolverine after turning down the role a decade ago? Channing Tatum, Tom Hardy interested in the role?

Hugh Jackman has confirmed to return in Wolverine 3 slated to release March 2017. The actor who has always been meant to become the iconic Wolverine. Rusell Crowe was offered the role of Wolverine in X-Men 2000 but declined the role. He recommended fellow Australian Hugh Jackman instead. Dougray Scott was also considered to play the role but he passed and took a role in the movie Mission: Impossible II. In the end, the role went to Jackman, and as the saying goes, the rest was history.

Viggo Mortensen was also considered to play the role but gracefully declined the role as well. 'I was offered Wolverine for the first movie. I guess it would have been for the franchise then," Mortensen shared through The Daily Beast via Comicbook.com.

Meanwhile, Hugh Jackman announced in his Instagram account last month that it would be his last time to be Wolverine in 'Wolverine 3'. He posted a picture of his knuckles with Wolverine's three claws with a caption, "WOLVERINE.....ONE LAST TIME...HJ."

With Hugh Jackman about to leave the role, rumors of Viggo Mortensen considering the role this time around is already spreading. News of the actor being considered to be the Wolverine, back in 2000, that is resurfacing at present may seem to be an indication or rather a marketing strategy to test the waters and introduce a new Wolverine to the fans.

It is really hard to imagine the X-Men franchise with a new Wolverine besides Hugh Jackman. Unfortunately, a replacement is necessary since Wolverine is set to appear in the upcoming Infinity Wars movie slated on 2017 and 2018.

So who are the possible replacements? Channing Tatum's name surfaced as one of the possible actors to replace Jackman in the role. Unfortunately doubts on Tatum being able to deliver the swag the Wolverine has are making fans worry.

Tom Hardy is also a touch candidate since he has that build and intensity as that of the Wolverine. Henry Cavill is also being considered. If Chris Evans and Ryan Reynolds can become two superheroes in the movies, Cavill can possibly play Wolverine too.

In the meantime, Hugh Jackman is still the Wolverine and will lead the role in the movie "Wolverine 3" in cinemas this coming March 3, 2017.
