Dragon's Dogma Online PS3, PS4, PC Release Updates: Frame rates, features for alpha test revealed; Cross-platform gameplay arrive soon?

By

Dragon's Dogma Online is bound to be released anytime this year, however, as early as now, the recent trailer unveils characters and moves. Additionally, the game will be playable in different platforms including PS3, PS4, and PC allowing cross-platform server compatibility that will permit players to play with each other regardless of device being used.

Although, it is still uncertain how the features will appeal to the audience nor will servers be able to handle the cross-platform connection.

To settle things out, an Alpha test will be conducted though it will only be available to PS3 users in Japan. Also, the game will only be featuring a limited set of options including only having four, out of the eight, playable jobs namely fighter, hunter, priest, and shield sage. Despite the restriction of having only one character per account, changing job types is allowed anytime. Additionally, there is a level cap of 10.

In the meantime, recruitment for players is still going on for the Alpha testing and will end on April 20. The game client, on the other hand, will be available on April 15 to 30 in which once officially released, players lucky enough to be chosen can immediately play the game. Though, players must first download the 4GB client data and must have a COG account along with a PSN account.

The Alpha test will evaluate multiplayer connections, UI, behavior, game balancing, and many more considering the numerous features that are being equipped on the game. It was even recently unraveled that PS4 users will be able to run the game at 1080p with 60 fps while PS3 users are only limited to 720p and 30 fps. As a result, it is questionable how the difference between frame rates will make an impact in the multiplayer connection.

Also, with 8 playable jobs and the grappling hook mechanic that will allow characters to pull themselves closer to the monsters, there are still things to be ironed out to make sure that capabilities are not overpowering the overall gameplay. Moreover, there is still the need to create a challenging atmosphere. Though, beta tests will follow the alpha and will ensure that Dragon's Dogma Online will be stable once its official full release.
