Eddie Redmayne is seen as the most possible actor to play the lead cast in the Harry Potter Spin Off Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. This despite that two actors are said to take on the same role.
Fresh from his awards in the recently concluded Oscars, BAFTA, Screen Actors Guild and Golden Globe for his film The Theory of Everything, the British actor is reportedly being groomed to play Newton Artemis Fido Scamander, the main character in the movie. Eddie Redmayne is said to be the studio's top choice for the role but he has yet to read the script. No official offer has been made yet but that is said to be the next step to be taken by Warner Brothers.
Aside from Redmayne, a report says English actors Nicholas Hoult and Matt Smith have also been considered to play the same character in the Harry Potter spinoff. Hoult is known for his role as Jack the Giant Slayer while Smith is the 11th doctor in the Doctor Who TV series. Castings are also open for two American girls and boys.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is a mandatory textbook in Harry Potter's Hogwart's school in which it is authored by Newton, a magic zoologist who was appointed by the school to write it. It is about Newt's adventures with magical animals and other creatures set 70 years before Harry Potter and his friends started training in the School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The script, which is to be written by J.K. Rowling, is already ongoing. The author says the new movie which is set in New York, is not a prequel nor a sequel to Harry Potter but the usual magical scenes will still be seen.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is a trilogy in which the first part is set to be released on Nov 18, 2016. The Harry Potter spin off will be directed by David Yates who also directed the movie series.
