Olivia Munn has joined the stellar cast of "X-Men: Apocalypse" as Psylocke, another powerful psychic in the roster of mutants. Munn's rich geek background must have been a huge factor for impressing director Bryan Singer and landing the role. Will she be one of Apocalypse's Four Horsemen in the new sequel?
It was previously reported that Bryan Singer is planning to include Psylocke in "X-Men: Apocalypse" after announcing that Jubilee is officially part of the sequel, which will be played by newcomer Lana Condor. Now that Singer announced Olivia Munn's addition to the sequel, let's see whyshe deserve the role.
Olivia Munn actually has quite a cult following. She is considered to be a geek goddess as she hosted the live television show called "Attack of the Show" that first aired in 2005. The show tackles pop culture, the newest in technology, and gave video games and movie previews. Munn earned even more attention when she was cast as Sloan Sabbith, the financial expert in HBO's "The Newsroom."
Psylocke, born as Betsy Braddock, appeared in the "X-Men: The Animated Series" from 1992 to 1997. Unlike the other popular "X-Men" psychics who use their telekinetic abilities alone against an enemy, Psylocke is also good in hand-in-hand combat. She is however one of the most underrated female mutants as compared to Jean Grey and Ororo Munroe aka Storm. Her first appearance in the "X-Men: The Last Stand" was not that memorable due to short screen time and few dialogues.
It is still uncertain if Olivia Munn's Psylocke will be siding with young Charles Xavier (played by returning James McAvoy) to fight against Apocalypse or if she will be one of the Four Horsemen in the movie along with Archangel (played by Ben Hardy). Bryan Singer is on a mission to use various and young mutants in the franchise proven by Psylocke's inclusion in the roster of mutants in "X-Men Apocalypse."
Olivia Munn addition as Psylocke already excited the fans of the "X-Men" franchise. With her good acting chops and geek background, she surely is someone to watch out for once "X-Men: Apocalypse"hit the screens on May 27, 2016.
