A new Halo 5: Guardians teaser has been newly revealed as part of 343 Industries Hunt the Truth promotion. The audio clip seeks to answer who really is Master Chief.
The third episode of the audio campaign series done by fictional journalist named Benjamin Giraud is entitled Critical Condition which focuses around the mystery of Master Chief or John 117 and his home planet.
The log series further discovers the mysteries behind Master Chief's life. Giraud culls information from retired military man now living in Castallaneta, a beach resort on one of Saturn's rings, and other people. Later on, the war journalist discovered conflicting news about the traitor's background.
"Conversations with retired military paint very different pictures of John. More questions arise about John's home planet and his involvement in a violent training incident. The cracks in the official account widen, and Benjamin is drawn in," said Giraud.
In the latest video teaser, Agent Locke has been sent to find out what had happened to Master Chief and more about what he had done on earth. Around rubbles left on a destruction on earth, Agent Locke found Master Chief dilapidated underneath his towering statue. Agent Locke pulled out his gun and pointed it towards Master Chief.
The video ends without Locke pulling the trigger. The clip concludes showing a bullet with word "traitor" engraved on it. This sparked rumors that Master Chief might, after all, not be the savior the earth needs at this time.
The first trailer released showed the "protagonist" with hints of who he is and his real intentions towards the humanity. 343 Industries encouraged fans to read between the lines regarding his true identity.
This first hinted that Master Chief after all is not the protector of the world. Halo official Twitter account also posted a photo of the bullet with the engraved "traitor" captioned who is the traitor?"
Meanwhile, franchise producer Josh Holmes confirmed that the game will use serves for all multiplayer and custom games.
Microsoft has announced Halo 5: Guardians to release on October 27, 2015 exclusively for Xbox One.
