Windows 10 Build 10049 Update: Cortana, Project Spartan, and Windows Hello

By

Microsoft Corporation is set to release its highly-anticipated Windows 10 (Build 10049) this summer and with it a handful of features like Cortana, Project Spartan, Windows Hello, and a first glimpse of Windows 10 for phones.

In the Microsoft 10 here comes Cortana, a new virtual assistant service that intends to help users locate files and information on either the hard drive or the Internet and also attend to uncomplicated tasks like calendar management. Cortana is a somewhat Siri-like service that assists users by responding to natural language and instructions.

The latest build of Windows 10 also gave the world a glimpse of Project Spartan, the web browser that will effectively replace Internet Explorer. Launch Project Spartan and be ready to see a clean and streamlined, intuitive interface unlike the IE. Experts happily say that it "loads fast, responsive, and works well via touch or with a mouse and keyboard".

A major feature of Project Spartan is the ability to write, draw, or type directly on a web page. This feature works on the desktop with mouse and keyboard and your finger or stylus on devices with touchscreen capabilities. The first version is currently available for download in the technical preview.

Along with the features they welcome Windows Hello, a feature that will bring biometric authentication to the operating system. It lets user scan their face, finger, or iris instead of typing a password, a feature that Microsoft claims to be more secure. Microsoft also enables users to authenticate applications, enterprise content, and even certain online experiences without the use of a password.

A week ago Microsoft released Build 10051, the latest update of Windows 10 for phones. It features Ul enhancements and applications like calendar, mail, maps and people app.

Windows 10 is becoming the best version of Windows yet, or rather, everything that Windows 8 should have been. Once officially released, Windows 10 will be made available for download (albeit a year only) to those who are running on Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and Windows Phone 8.
