Both HTC Desire EYE and Desire 816 began receiving the Android 5.0 Lollipop update in the United Kingdom, with the firmware bringing impressive additions and new features to the phones.
HTC UK announced on Twitter yesterday the good news for Desire EYE and Desire 816 owners. Its tweet reads: "We are proud to announce that we are rolling out #Lollipop for Desire Eye and 816 smartphones from today. Enjoy!"
Android 5.0 Lollipop update will give new Lollipop features and overall system enhancements. However, the most coveted and much-anticipated Sense 7 has not arrived yet which some reports believe will come in the next Android 5.1 Lollipop update soon. Instead, the smartphone manufacturer brings the Sense 6.5 user interface which the latest UI version of the brand. Sense 6.5 is now available in One M9 devices.
Desire EYE models in HTC's homeland Taiwan have been rolled with the Android 5.0.2 update on Monday. While popular HTC mid-range smartphones One, One M8, Desire E8 and Butterfly S already received Android 5.0 update in the United States. While Desire E8 in Hong Kong has already received the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update.
All updates across regions will receive Android installation in stages. In a leaked scheduled, One Max, One Mini 2 and One Mini are reportedly among HTC devices to get the update in the next months. There is no report when the Desire 820 will get the same update.
If the update is already available to download on Desire EYE and Desire 816 phones, Google, via mobile networks, will send notification message to the device. Just tap on the "Install" option and follow onscreen instructions. Once the update is done, the stock firmware will automatically begin running on the phone.
To check the status of the phone's mobile operating system, head over to Menu > Settings > About phone > System update > Check for update.
