George R. R. Martin has yet to finish his books for the "Game of Thrones" series, but the 66-year-old best selling author hinted that his upcoming book, "The Winds of Winter" will have a great twist.
George R. R. Martin has promised fans that he will try to finish "The Winds of Winter" before the "Game of Thrones" season six premieres in 2016. Martin recounted that in order to keep up with the pace of the series and to finish "The Winds of Winter" before the sixth season of the show begins, he had to cancel his appearances for two conventions along with a couple of interviews.
Martin also hinted that there will be a major plot twist that will "drive your readers crazy." The "A Song of Fire and Ice" author, however, admitted that he is still gauging on whether or not he will go that direction. "It's easy to do things that are shocking or unexpected, but they have to grow out of characters. They have to grow out of situations," he revealed to EW.
Martin, however, explained that this plot twist will not be shown in the "Game of Thrones" series, citing the reason that the show has already "made a couple of decisions that will preclude it, where in my case I have not made those decisions."
"Game of Thrones" creator David Benioff previously revealed that the HBO series may end even before Martin gets to finish the books. This news surprised a lot of fans, especially readers, because they do not want to see who ends up in the Iron Throne on TV before they read it on paper.
Benioff added, however, that he still believes that readers will still patronize "The Winds of Winter" despite showing some spoilers on the show. "There are certain things that are going to happen in the books that are different in the show, and I think people who love the show and want more... will be able to turn the books," Benioff said, wrote iDigital Times.
