Lionhead Studios announced weeks ago that the upcoming multiplayer role-playing game, Fable Legends, is indeed free-to-play. The game's exclusive beta release has begun since the 16th of October 2014 but an official release date of the full-version is yet to be declared. Meanwhile, Lionhead Studios remain discreet in terms of news and updates regarding Fable Legends.
Developer Lionhead announced last February that Fable Legends will be their first free-to-play game, marking a significant divergence from previous games in the Fable series. Studio head John Needham reveals that Riot's League of Legends was a huge inspiration in the application of the free-to-play feature of the game.
Fable Legends will offer four free heroes at launch and after two weeks, these four heroes will leave the rotation and will be replaced by another group of heroes, which will be replaced again after two weeks, and so on. Buying the heroes can unlock it and players can then use it indefinitely. Those who prefer to play as villains can also buy creatures.
Much rumours have circulated about the release of the game but everyone is betting on a 2015 release date. Amazon.com has listed Fable Legend's release as December 2015 but then again, Amazon isn't really reliable when it comes to release dates. Still, most gamers are betting on a release date somewhere close to December 2015.
Fans have been eagerly asking as to when would Fable Legends be finally released. Lionhead Studios felt the need to pacify their fans' needs as they announced via Twitter that they would not be releasing Fable Legends until it is "as perfect as it possibly can be." Thus, fans are advised to keep their excitement on hold as Lionhead is currently still perfecting the game and continues to remain in the beta stages until the devs see it fit for the public.
