Kojima-Konami Feud Results to Silent Hills Cancellation; Fox Engine not used in gameplay

By

After revealing a playable teaser of the horror game Silent Hills in Gamescom 2014, it has generated a lot of attention and anticipation. However, Kojima Productions got into a dispute with game publisher Konami that places the future of the game on uncertainty. As of the moment, the game has been put into hold while Konami has yet to release further information about the Silent Hills cancellation.

However, recent activities of Konami suggest that Kojima Productions have been fully laid off from the game as well as from other projects. This was speculated after the Silent Hills website no longer carried the productions' logo on the bottom-left side of the home screen. Moreover, what's left is only the Fox Engine logo.

Though, Kojima Productions did not give permission to Konami to use the game engine. Further details about this portion of the dispute is yet to be unraveled. However, without a game engine, this adds more reason for the possible cancellation of Silent Hills.

Moreover, Silent Hills is not the only one affected with the dispute but as well as Metal Gear Solid. Konami recently started erasing Kojima Productions Logo from official game art, Twitter, and official Metal Gear Website. This shows that the separation of the two companies is actually serious and could eventually affect other upcoming games.

Also, with the separation, Konami is reportedly reverting back to a headquarters-based organization from being studio-based. If the game publisher is still working with the game, this could likely further slowdown progress resulting to a delay. Despite all the bad news and lack of a formal announcement of the game's ongoing work, there is still hope.

As of the moment, the Silent Hills website is still running and functional despite already a few weeks from the announcement of the dispute and the possible Silent Hills cancellation. Moreover, since Konami took the effort to remove the Kojima Productions Logo, it shows that it is still being updated. This might be an implied message that the game is still in production.
