Singer Avril Lavigne is staying positive amidst having to go through Lyme Disease. The Canadian singer and songwriter has in fact dedicated her new song to athletes of the Special Olympics, emphasizing on bravely defeating life's battles.
In a report, the singer has released her new song entitled "Fly" on Thursday which she wrote herself for the Avril Lavigne Foundation two years ago. She got the disease during the spring of 2014 after she was bitten by a tick.
While she was battling Lyme disease whose symptoms include weakness and fatigue, the song struck her. She then decided to partner with the Special Olympics in which all the proceeds in the downloading of the song shall go to the said organization. The singer said she has related her experience with the disease to the message of the song which is about "strength and courage", hoping it could inspire others especially athletes with special needs.

Aside from the song downloads, every view of the video on Vevo helps support the Special Olympics. Fans, singers and other celebrities showed their support to Twitter by promoting the said song. Eva Longoria and Demi Lovato were among them. Nicole Scherzinger of the Pussycat Dolls posted "Inspired and moved by my girl AvriLavigne's new song Fly. Proud to be supporting Special Olympics this summer in L.A." The Backstreet Boys also congratulated Avril saying it is a great song and a great cause. Even Nick Carter posted a separate comment saying he loved the song. Britney Spears meanwhile said the video gave her the chills.
"Beautiful what you're doing for @Special Olympics," Spears tagged her co-singer in a tweet.
The music video features athletes of Special Olympics in various sports categories. It showed thedeaf and mute, semi-paralyzed and other physically disabled, conquering their situation by still being able to excel in the field of sports. It also showed Avril hanging out with some Special Olympics athletes.
Avril Lavigne, is on the road to recovery from Lyme Disease and continues to fly high despite the impact on her health the illness has gotten her.
