Not only will the iPod Touch 6th Generation shine on land, it's set to shine underwater too if things go as reported. That may sounds baloney for some as listening to music under water could feel outlandish. But when the iconic media player will see market late this year as reported, it may create needed marketing waves with its water-resistant feature.
This only shows that the iPod market is alive and strong even when the product line itself has been largely overshadowed by its more popular brothers - the iPhone chief among them. And where some pundits thought it could be facing extinction, this stretch may prove to be its best showing yet.
Down but Not Out
Call it iPhone's little brother but the iPod Touch is certainly an iPhone lookalike - sans the thinness and the weight. However, lacking the mobile features of text and all the glorious arena for communication, the iPod played second fiddle to the iPhone considered redundant.
And many felt it could be extinct soon.
But today even with the less impressive showing of the iPod Touch 5th Gen and iPod as a whole, the MP3 music player/apps and game device is slated for a strong showing.
The latest buzz reveal the iPod Touch 6th Generation will be fitted with jaw-dropping technology: a never-before-seen A9 microprocessor, latest iOS 9 technology, an 8MP rear camera highly-improved Siri and secure Touch ID, as reported by CrossMap.
The result: a fully-loaded entertainment device in two offerings: 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch.
In Dire Need of a Marketing Push
However, in view of its recent not-so-brilliant performance giving only an 2% of Apple's overall income, a marketing push would definitely do the iPod Touch 6th Generation well.
And the upcoming iPod's water-resistant feature could do just that - putting it a cut above its immediate competitors.
As discussed by Master Herald, "But looking at the present and even recent roster of music and media player devices, it would be nearly improbable to identify one that has the water-resistant feature, which makes the Apple iPod Touch 6th Generation truly unique."
Yes, suddenly a pool party is not a bad idea after all.
To come out in silver, pink, blue, space grey and yellow offerings, the iPod Touch 6th Generation starts at $250.
