Actor Tom Cruise revealed that he was hit by a small particle while hanging on a plane for a stunt act in Mission Impossible 5: Rogue Nation. He talked about other terrifying experiences while on the shoot of the upcoming movie.
MISSION POSSIBLE
In a report, Cruise said he felt a tiny particle hit him during the second take that he thought it broke his ribs. However, even after doing the said scene for eight times where he had to be up in the air as high as 5000 feet, there was no report of the actor suffering of any injury. Cruise though admitted that he felt "scared sh-tless.". He had to hang on at the exterior of a plane starting from the time it went off from the runway until it was flying. He said that although he wore a harness, it being loose made his body vibrate against the plane.
The actor said he was challenged to do the act. Doing his own stunts is not new to Cruise who also did a number of them in his previous movies. One of which is flying from the tallest building in the world which is in Dubai for Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. The aim of the movie is to let viewers feel and connect with reality, thus, aside from doing the stunts, Cruise gave his commitment by not wearing goggles on the said scene.
DARING TOM
A report says the actor was made to wear a special kind of glasses by his eye doctor as shield from high velocity winds. During the time that he was hanging on the plane, he said he was busily thinking about camera angles and possible edits.
Another source says there had been a thorough preparation before the scene. Tom Cruise said they took into consideration the clearing of birds that could hinder the flight and cleaning the runaway in order to avoid accidents.
The plane stunt for Mission Impossible 5 is just part of Tom Cruise's mission as an actor, proving that anything is possible.
