Metal gear solid V: The Phantom Pain multiplayer servers will only hold 16-player matches on the PS4, Xbox one and PC while Xbox 360 and PS3 will only have 12-player support. Though this doesn't indicate that Metal gear solid V multiplayer gameplay is a bit limited, but player support is few compared to other triple-A games' multiplayer mode released this year.
In comparison GTA V can support 32 player matches for console releases while Battlefield Hardline supports a whopping 64-player match on all platforms, which is a big difference indeed to Metal gear solid V. Information for the online player cap was divulged by Konami on its Japanese website via Videogamer. The Japanese website told fans of the series that Metal gear solid V multiplayer will only support 16-man matches for PS4 and Xbox one but drops down to 12-player matches for 360 and PS3.
The news stirs up speculations whether game maps will also automatically resize itself depending on the number of players as with Battlefield Hardline. According to Eurogamer, online play for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will not only be generic team against team shooting battles, but involve stealth, trap laying, ambushes and more.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is the fifth major title of this franchise that kick-started the stealth genre in games. Among its creators, Hideo Kajima, after being in the series since its inception, will finally end his involvement in the Metal Gear Solid franchise. Though reasons are not divulged, termination is ruled out, especially after Donna Burke, Metal Gear Solid voice actress and singer apologizes for earlier comments that Konami fired Kojima.
Either way, even if Hideo Kojima will be out of the franchise, Metal Gear Solid has become an iconic title in the gaming world. The full release of the game is set on September 1 for consoles and September 15 for the PC.
