Emma Watson will be reunited with "Parks Of Being A Wallflower" writer Stephen Chboskyin the live action movie "Beauty and the Beast" movie set for release in 2017. The first project shared by the two was a huge success and Disney would love to have the same result. Chbosky has proven in the past that he can turn a good story into a great movie adaptation with the 2005 movie "Rent" which was based on the Tony award winning musical.
The live-action movie adaptation by the classic story follows on the heels of the box-office success "Cinderella". The said movie's plot wasn't altered greatly so it would appear that Disney is not taking any risk with the live action remake of their animated movies.
While Chbosky has not made any of his plans for the plot public, it is safe to say that whatever difference could be between the classic story and the movie would be very minimal. But then again, Disney's reboot of "Alice in Wonderland" had several significant revisions...
Still, the new Beauty and the Beast movieis expected to be very closely tied-in to the original story. While not official yet, the movie has been already labeled as a musical. This is strongly supported by the addition of Alan Menken to the crew.
Menken provided the original musical score for the animated film released in 1991. This means that Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, Luke Evans, and Josh Gad would have to work on their singing skills. The movie will feature the classic songs like "Tale as Old as Time" and "Be Our Guest" as well as several new songs.
Beauty and the Beast's cast is slowly being filled with names like GuguMbatha-Raw being confirmed for their role. Mbatha-Raw of "Doctor Who" fame will be playing the part of Plumette. Another recently named talent to join the cast is Sir Ian McKellen who will play the part of Cogsworth the clock.
