Insidious: Chapter 3 is set for release in in the silver screen on June 5, 2015. The 3rd movie in the Insidious franchise will be a prequel to the first two films and it will tackle the life of Elise Reiner.
Anyone looking for the continuation to the ending of Insidious: Chapter 2 would not find it in the third installment in the Insidious film series. This is because the third film in this horror movie series will focus on a new family. The movie is set before the events of the first and second movie making it a prequel. In this movie, gifted psychic Elise Rainier played by Lin Shaye will user her supernatural ability to contact the dead to help a teenage girl.
The Gang Is Back
The development of the Insidious Chapter 3 was announced back in September of 2013 as Leigh Whannel was confirmed to write the story. Whannel wrote the first and co-wrote the second movie. He also played the character of Specs, an assistant to psychic Elise. Angus Sampson who played the role of Tucker, another assistant of Elise Reiner is also confirmed to be coming back for the third movie. It was Whannel's idea to focus on telling the story of Elise this time around.
Marketing Ongoing
The Insidious 3 is already being aggressively marketed. Last March, a teaser trailer was released in connection with several launch events in different cities including Chicago, Miami, and New York.
The first installment in the series was released in 2010 to positive reviews from critics. That movie grossed more than $50 million in the US against a filming budget of just over $1 million. The second movie followed in 2013 and was another success in the box office as it garnered more than $83 million.
Whether the third installment would attain the same level of success in the box office remains to be seen. The new direction of the plot focusing on beloved characters might just give fans of the franchise plenty of reason to watch this one too. The theatrical release for the said movie is slated for June 5, 2015.
