Microsoft has yet to announce anything on their Windows 10 launch other than the fact that there will be different versions for different hardware. What is known is they will call all versions "Windows 10" but the versions will vary depending on the hardware most suitable for the program. Not everything is known about it but there have been a few things that leaked out.
One of the main features of Windows 10 is the mighty return of the start menu. Basically, they combined the start menu with the start towels of Windows 8. You can pin and unpin things on the towels. You can't change the widthof the menu but you can change the height and the width adjusts automatically. One of the new features of Windows 10 is snapping.
You can now snap it full screen or snap it to the side. It's actually cool and useful. You can snap 4 windows into one desktop now where before you could only do it full screen or half screen.
Another advantage Windows 10 will give you is you can now have multiple desktops. It's a really nice feature letting you organize different desktops with multiple windows open. Windows 10 is basically a merge between windows 7 and windows 8. If you've been using Windows, this new version will be easy to pick up. Everything will feel familiar.
As for Windows 10 for the phones and tablets, they started with customizing the start screen with full size backgroung image. They've also made notifications interactive so you can take action directly. The speech to text capability has been significantly enhanced and they've made the phone smart enough that it punctuates the sentences for you.
The mighty Cortana comes to life in Windows 10 as well. It is the best digital assistant available in the market. That alone should be worth the upgrade.
Windows 10 will be definitely released in the summer around July of 2015 as what Microsoft is aiming for. For Windows 7 and 8.1 users, it will be free for one year. The two most recent Windows versions will be able to upgrade directly.
