E.L. James found a new scriptwriter for "Fifty Shades Darker." Niall Leonard, Jame's husband, joins in the "Fifty Shades" team to pen the sequel that is slated to plague cinemas on 2017. Meanwhile, Dakota Johnson, who plays Anastasia Steele in the movie version, chopped her long brown locks. Will Christian Grey approve of this?
Niall is an accomplished author himself and already worked on the script of "Fifty Shades of Grey" but he was not credited for it. However, he still continues to support his wife, E.L. James, by agreeing to write the "Fifty Shades Darker" movie script. Leonard also has a writing background with the "Crusher" book series, British TV show Air Force One Is Down, and Wire in the Blood under his belt.
"Fifty Shades of Grey" earned a monstrous $568.8 million worldwide, a testament to the rabid support of its book series fans to the film adaptation. However, despite its success, director Sam Taylor-Johnson and screenwriter Kelly Marcel chose not to return for the sequel due to creative differences with author E.L. James. It was reported that James, Taylor-Johnson, and Marcel constantly clashed while filming the first movie because James wanted to include scenes that the two oppose. With the inclusion of Leonard in the sequel's creative team, perhaps James will no longer need to worry that her opinions will be contested.
In other news, Dakota Johnson recently sported a new look. The 25-year old actress decided to go for a shorter hair due to her new role in the movie "How To Be Single." But fans of the E.L. James series know that Christian Grey prefers Ana's hair to be longer since he likes braiding her long locks. Will this affect Mr. Grey's fondness for Anastasia? Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan will be returning in the "Fifty Shades Darker" along with new characters that will surely spice up the sequel even more.
"Fifty Shades Darker" will be penned by E.L. James' husband Niall Leonard, who also shared his writing expertise in the first movie. The team up of James and Leonard would probably allow the former not to worry too much that the major book parts of her book will not be translated in the big screens.
Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson will be reprising their roles as Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele albeit with a shorter hair that Mr. Grey might not approve of.
