Fans of the popular video game series "Warcraft" must have been disappointed as Universal and Legendary pushed back its release date anew to June 10, 2016. The Duncan Jones-directed adaptation of the Blizzard game franchise was previously slated for a March 11, 2016 debut. The upcoming "Warcraft" Movie will now have to compete with titles from Warner Bros., Lionsgate, and Sony.
Filming of the "Warcraft" movie started in mid-January 2014 and was wrapped in May the same year. It was also originally going to hit theaters on Dec. 18, 2015 but was curtly moved due to the new "Star Wars" installment "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," which have claimed the date intended for the Blizzard Entertainment franchise.
Refreshingly, Duncan Jones' 3D epic adventure showed a concept teaser during the Comic-Con International 2013 and then explained in the BlizzCon 2013 that the plot would focus on the Orcs-versus-Humans origin story. The following year, a brief snippet was also revealed at the BlizzCon 2014, which detailed the movie's cast and showed off what the game's orcs and humans will look like.
Jones also co-wrote the screenplay along with Charles Leavitt. The upcoming "Warcraft" film stars Ben Foster (Lone Survivor, X-Men: The Last Stand), Paula Patton (Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol), Dominic Cooper (Captain America: The First Avenger, Need for Speed), Travis Fimmel (Vikings), Ruth Negga (World War Z), Clancy Brown (Green Lantern), and among others.
Since Blizzard's "Warcraft" movie was rescheduled for a frustrating three months in the mid-summer season, it will have to compete with three other titles that occupy the same date: Warner Bros. "The Conjuring 2," Sony's action adventure pic "Uncharted," and Lionsgate's thriller film "Now You See Me 2."
Now, aren't you bothered with the change of release date? What are your expectations for the "Warcraft" movie? Will you be watching it this summer? Make sure to drop in some comments!
