James Cameron is now working on "Avatar 2" six years after the monstrous success of the first movie. Some of the original casts' return is already confirmed including Sigourney Weaver and Stephen Lang. Weaver's character died in the first movie that's why her return is highly-anticipated already. Meanwhile, Stephen Lang was said to have an interesting role as the sequel's notorious villain.
Sigourney Weaver and Stephen Lang are being called back for "Avatar 2," which will hit cinemas on 2017. The two played important roles in the first movie as Dr. Grace Augustine and Coloner Miles Quaritch. However, both of their characters died as well. But since James Cameron previously said that "nobody dies in a science fiction movie," both actors are returning in the sequel alive and kicking.
Sigourney Weaver will be reprising her role as Dr. Grace Augustine not just in "Avatar 2" but also in the third and fourth sequel. How her character survived in the first movie is one of the things that fans should watch out for in the second sequel.
Stephen Lang will also make a comeback as Colonel Miles Quatrich in the three sequels despite getting hit by two arrows in the chest courtesy of Neytiri (played by Zoe Zaldana). James Cameron noted that Lang's character will become even more interesting.
"His character will evolve into really unexpected places across the arc of our new three-film saga. I really look forward to working with such a gifted actor, who's also become a good friend, " Cameron said
When "Avatar" was released in 2009, it instantly reached blockbuster success and end up holding the highest-grossing film of all time with a $2.7 billion worldwide earnings.
"Avatar 2" is just the first in the three sequels spearheaded by James Cameron. Sigourney Weaver and Stephen Lang are reprising their roles in all of the sequels despite dying in the first movie.
