After years of speculations about the possibility of another "Tron" movie, actress Olivia Wilde confirms that early works for the third sequel is well underway. "Tron 3" will focus on Wilde's character, Quorra, will be the center of the film as she adjusts in the real world. Will the next sequel open the possibility of romance between Quorra and Sam?
Olivia Wilde teases about "Tron 3" during her interview in the Tribeca Film Festival. The actress will return in the third "Tron" movie as Quorra, the artificial intelligence who jumped into the real world from the digital realm. According to Olivia, "Tron 3" will focus on the adjustments that Quorra has to face, suggesting that the next sequel will pick up from where "Tron: Legacy" left off.
The 31-year old actress expressed her excitement towards "Tron 3" especially for Quorra now that she has entered the real world with the movie's lead Sam Flynn, played by actor Garrett Hedlund. She revealed that her character will affect the arc of the next sequel and that she's into all the science and technology stuff of the movie.
"I'm fascinated by all discussions of AI, and especially now today and now with virtual reality becoming something that's like a personal device, I think it's time to tell this story," said the actress.
Wilde went on to discuss why it has taken them so long to release another sequel saying they took their time to find a right story. She admitted that the story finally "kind of came together" but there are a lot of things to be done before "Tron 3" hits the theaters. Will the new story involve a possible love story between Quorra and Sam? The ending of "Tron: Legacy" after all suggests that the two are going to journey together especially that Quorra is practically a new creation in the real world making her dependent to Sam.
Previous reports suggest the possibility that the next sequel will be titled, "Tron: Ascension." Disney has yet to make any official statement regarding the title and its release date.
In 2010, "Tron: Legacy" was released but since then, there have been few official reports about a possible follow up. However, Olivia Wilde hints that "Tron 3" is finally happening and will focus on the repercussions of her character Quorra's jump into the real world.
