The Microsoft Surface Pro 4 could be out by July 2015.
With reports indicating that the Windows 10 OS could be released as early as July or as late as October, Windows-based devices like the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 and the Lumia 940 are coming out in conjunction with the OS release.
Any speculation pointing to an earlier release would be unfounded, since it is unlikely that Microsoft will let any device come out with the Windows 10 OS before PC has it.
The Windows 10 release was allegedly hinted at by AMD CEO Lisa Su, which in turn speculated the release of the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 laptop-tablet hybrid.
"[AMD] was factoring in [...] the Windows 10 launch at the end of July," Su was supposedly quoted.
If true, then the OS and all devices related to it would be released in time for back-to-school promos.
As for the specs, the device is expected to have two versions: a 12-inch model targeting the mid-range market and a 14-inch one for the high-end market. Both versions will have an LCD resolution of 2160 x 1440, and can have a max of 16GB RAM and 1TB storage space.
Aside from Su's supposed revelation of the Windows OS release (and therefore, the release devices containing Windows) another possible indicator of a newer model of the line coming out soon is the price cut seen in the Surface Pro 3.
All models and configuration of the current Surface Pro, priced anywhere between US$800 to $1,800, are currently being offered at discounts reaching about $150. The discounts are available for US-based and Puerto Rico-based customers from 19 April to 27, which may be extended depending on how the market reacts to it.
In any case, the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 is a device worth taking a look at. And if Windows 10 performs way better than Windows 8 did, then it has a bright future ahead.
