M Night Shyamalan's The Visit Trailer Released: Will he redeem himself after a series of film flops?

By

Some of M Night Shyamalan's works have been praised while some have been criticized. In the past few years, the viewing public therefore would have no idea going into the theater to watch an M Night Shyamalan film what they are going to get. The latest flick from the genius behind "The Sixth Sense" is titled "The Visit", the trailer for which has been recently released.

Last year, there were reports that M Night Shyamalan was shooting a film in Pennsylvania with a working title of "Sundowning". Universal Pictures soon picked up the movie and has been renamed "The Visit". This marks the first thriller that Shyamalan has made since "Devil" in 2010. But this is not the first time that he picked a spot in Philly as the setting for a movie.

Based on "The Visit Official Trailer" the plot revolves around the found-footage framework which has been popularized by popular thrillers like "Blair Witch Project" and "Paranormal Activity". This technique has been used a lot that one would wonder whether Shyamalan's latest film is already late for the party. The technique may have been played out as evidenced by the low dollar figures for the fourth film in the Paranormal Activity franchise.

The movie revolves around the story of two kids who went on a visit to their grandparent's place for a week. Everything seems to be going great until their grandparents showed disturbing behaviors like scratching the walls at night and asking one of the kids to climb inside the oven to clean it. This fare is usual for Shyamalan who is no stranger to horror stories and the artful way of telling them.

Will this movie be a hit big enough to bring back his name's glory? Or would it further add to the number of people criticizing him and his filmmaking skills? The answers would have to wait to be revealed though. The movie is set to be released on September 11 this year.
